Dear Pre-K-4 Parents, We had a week full of lasting memories! We welcomed the season of Spring even though it didn't feel like Spring outside! We've had many Lion days this month! We read It's Spring and Spring Stinks! We loved the Easter egg hunt given by the Parents Association and the Easter Egg hunt we had in our classroom on Friday. We each found an egg, identified the object in the egg, it's beginning sound and the letter that made the sound. We all did a great job! We learned about St. Joseph and his job as a carpenter. He took such good care of Jesus and Mary. We made a palm branch to wave as we said, "Hosanna!" and sang The Palm Sunday song to the tune of She'll Be Coming Round the Mountain. We shouted, "Praise God!, Our King!, God's Son!, and We're Saved!" We read the story of The Last Supper from our children's Bible and had bread and wine(grape juice) just as Jesus did with His apostles. We looked at da Vinci's famous painting of The Last Supper to see each of the twelve apostles, especially Judas. We painted a beautiful sky to go with our Good Friday cross. Jesus died on the cross because He loves us! We read many wonderful Easter books, including Happy Easter, Mouse!, The Easter Bunny Is MIssing!, Here Comes T-Rex Cottontail, and The Easter Bunny's Assistant. We applied to be an assistant to the Easter Bunny. We read two versions of The Little Red Hen(Galdone and Finch) and compared and contrasted them. We read I Spy on the Farm and then used our little eyes to play I Spy in our classroom. Our favorite book of the week was The Three Little Pigs and The Somewhat Bad Wolf. We are learning that the Big Bad Wolf wasn't always so bad! As we begin the holiest of weeks, we will sing our Lenten song every day and take turns echoing it to each other. Please ask your child to sing it to you. During this very short week, we will visit church and see the Stations of the Cross. We will do an Easter Action Story to tell the story of Holy Week. We will read more Easter books. We will read another Gilbert book as we read Last One in Is a Rotten Egg. We love Gilbert books! We will complete our theme, Folk Stories on the Farm by rereading This Little Chick and Manana, Iguana. As always, it will be a fun, exciting week in Pre-K-4! Mrs. Walton and I wish you and your family a Blessed Easter! May the Risen Christ bring you and your family joy, happiness, and peace!
